Award Categories


Arts: A person who enriches the arts by spreading enthusiasm for, promoting awareness of, and helping to create a rich cultural environment in our community.
Business: An owner or manager of a Sammamish enterprise who generously uses their business resources to help support community causes.
Courage: Someone who overcomes great obstacles to live life to the fullest and inspires others to meet challenges.
Environment: A person or persons who advocate for environmental awareness through the use of their time, talent, and resources to help better our natural environment by reducing the carbon foot print, or restoring lands, rivers, & trails in our community. (Business & environmental organizations are excluded)
Learning Promotion: A person whose enriching and inspiring contributions create a positive environment for students, that stimulates creativity, imagination and enthusiasm for learning.
Teen Spirit Award: A Sammamish teenager who shows a passion for helping others, for giving service to our community, and for being a shining example inspiring his or her peers and younger generations to follow suit.
Trevor Price Children's Award: A Sammamish youth age 13 or younger who outwardly displays compassion, respect and kindness, setting a positive example for his/her peers.
Youth Advocate: A person who values and supports Sammamish youth, advocating for their needs and interests in the community.
Unsung Hero: A person who goes beyond expectations in an inspirational and positive manner.
Spirit of Sammamish: A person who embodies the highest level of commitment to the community, selflessly giving of their time and talents.

Selection Criteria


  • Only residents, students, employees and volunteers in Sammamish may be nominated for a Sammi Award.
  • Only one nomination will be allowed per form. Only individuals or a team (of 2) can be nominated, no groups.
  • No anonymous nominations will be accepted.
  • Nominees may be nominated in only one category.
  • Nominees can not be a board member of a major sponsoring organization, a part of the Sammi Awards Selection Committee, a member of the Board of Directors or Committee Director for the SAMMI Awards.
  • Nominations must be received electronically or by post by 12/10/11. No exceptions.

*The SAMMI Award Committee reserves the right to move the nomination to another category that the Committee deems appropriate.
**If there are more than 5 nominations in any category, the SAMMI Award Committee reserves the right to select the top 5 candidates as finalists for the current year SAMMI Awards.

Please be as detailed as possible; one sentence nominations seldom do justice to the nominee. Completed Nominations will be reviewed by the Interview Committee. After the interview, the top 3 nominees in each category will be forwarded anonymously to an independent selection committee, who submit their selection for the SAMMI Award Committee final selection.Nominations must be received by 12/10/11.
